Website of MSc Cognitive science
Cognitive science is an interdisciplinary field of study concerned with the study of cognition and cognitive phenomena. It combines approaches from philosophy, cognitive psychology, neuroscience, linguistics and computer science/artificial intelligence. The aim is to gain a fuller understanding of cognitive functions (perception, memory, learning, attention, thinking, emotions, language, consciousness, etc.).
A particular aim of the MSc is to integrate computational approaches to cognition with basic experimental research and general reflection on cognition and the mechanisms that support it. The collaboration between the sciences, humanities and philosophy has proven to be particularly important for the training of young scientists who are familiar with methods for the formulation and testing of empirical theories and with computational simulation techniques.
The Interdepartmental Postgraduate Programme "Cognitive Science" is organised by the Department of History and Philosophy of Science and with the collaboration of the Departments of Computer Science and Telecommunications, Philology and Psychology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
