The Laboratory of Cypriote Studieswas established in August 2017 as a result of the vision and tireless efforts of Professor Emeritus of the University of Athens A.I. Voskos.
The aim of the laboratpry is to serve educational and research needs in the field of Cypriot Literature from ancient to modern times. In comparison with other works of Greek literature, it examines the words and popular literature of Cyprus, the authors, the influences they received and exerted, the manuscript and publishing tradition of the texts, the language, the development of literary genres, the intertextual relations, the oral tradition, but also the historical conditions under which Greek culture was formed and flourished in Cyprus, the long-standing customs and traditions, etc, with emphasis on the contribution of Cyprus to the development of the entire Greek culture.
The specific objectives of the laboratory are :
- The design, development, dissemination and evaluation of educational material in printed and electronic form, as well as the design and implementation of methodological standards and exemplary teaching, focusing on the current requirements on the issue.
- The compilation of archives and collections of documentation material, as well as the preservation, digitisation and exploitation of research sources.
- The establishment of a specialised research collection, with material in printed and/or electronic form.
- The formation of research groups consisting of lecturers and postgraduate students, aiming at the interpretative investigation of specialised or broader issues related to Cypriote Studies.
- The preparation of research projects and programmes, independently or in collaboration with other research and academic institutions in Greece and abroad.
- The organisation of scientific lectures, seminars, workshops, symposia and conferences.
- The development of collaborations with research, academic, cultural and related professional organisations in Greece and abroad.
- The development of publishing activity in print and electronic form.
